This is an opportunity for the community to give input on the proposed 2027-2028 school year calendar. We will collect responses to the survey through the close of business day on March 13, 2026.
This calendar takes into consideration the following:
1. This survey includes 4 calendars to provide input on. Calendars A and B follow Kodiak’s traditional model. Calendar C includes more Mondays off and these align with some state and federal holidays. Calendar D is the most dramatic change in practice, but has been offered as a potential option to improve attendance.
2. Contract agreements between employee groups and KIBSD:
- number of workdays
- length of contract
- holidays
- time for family conferences
3. State statue for the number of student instructional days and professional development days required/allowed.
4. UAA’s Spring Break dates in 2028 have not been finalized. However, we believe it may fall on the 3rd week of March in 2028.
