Dear Kodiak Families, Staff, Students, and Community Members,
It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Superintendent of the Kodiak Island Borough School District. I am excited to become part of this incredible community and begin building relationships with the students, families, staff, and community partners who make Kodiak such a special place.
Throughout my career in education, I have believed that great schools are built through strong relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to helping every student succeed. As I begin this journey with Kodiak Island Borough School District, I am committed to listening, learning, and working alongside our educators, families, students, and community members to build upon the many strengths that already exist across our schools.
Kodiak has a proud tradition of excellence, dedicated educators, supportive families, and students with unlimited potential. My vision is to work together to create even greater opportunities for our students by expanding academic programs, strengthening career and technical education pathways, supporting innovation in our classrooms, and ensuring every student graduates prepared for the future they choose.
One of the things I am most excited about is listening to the voices of our students. As educators, we have a responsibility to help students discover their passions, talents, and goals. By listening to their interests and aspirations, we can continue developing programs and pathways that open doors to meaningful careers, higher education, military service, entrepreneurship, and other opportunities that lead to successful and fulfilling lives.
The future of Kodiak schools is bright. Together, we can create a school system that is recognized not only for academic excellence, but also for preparing students to thrive in an ever-changing world. We will focus on high-quality instruction, safe and welcoming learning environments, strong partnerships with families and community organizations, and a culture that encourages every student to dream big and achieve their goals.
I believe the best days for the Kodiak Island Borough School District, the most innovative rural school district in America, are ahead of us. There is tremendous potential within this community, and I am excited to work alongside you as we build on our successes, embrace new opportunities, and create an exceptional future for the students we serve.
