    The Kodiak Island Borough School District is excited to announce the launch of Unified Classroom, a new software for PowerSchool. In order to access the Unified Classroom, all parents/guardians will need to create new portal accounts. Be prepared for the first day of school, create your account today.

  • Tech Night - Pick Up School Issued iPads for Grades 6-12.

    Kodiak Middle School and Kodiak High School students will be issued an iPad during Tech Night on August 23 from 6-8 pm at Kodiak High School. Parent and students will also have an opportunity to explore PowerSchool's new Unified Classroom for assignments and tests, and learn more about technology use in instruction.

  • KMS and Island Trails Network Marine Debris Clean-up Project

    KMS students from Mr. Adams’ Discovering Kodiak class teamed up with Island Trails Network for a marine debris clean-up project. Over the course of 2 weeks, teams of students combed the beaches of Kodiak collecting everything from plastic bottles to old toothbrushes.

    During a special luncheon, the Kodiak Rotary Club awarded five Kodiak Middle School students with the Rotary Youth Merit Award. This award recognizes students for services to their community and classmates, leadership qualities, and academic achievements.

  • Annual Student Council Food Drive

    Our annual food drive brought in a total of 1,169 food items! Each year, the Student Council organizes the food drive and helps encourage all students at KMS to get involved and help their community.

  • KIBSD secondary grades move back to 0-100%, A- F grade scale

    Starting on Monday, October 2, Kodiak High, Middle, and Rural Schools’ students will once again be graded on the familiar 0-100 scale and receive A-F grades instead of the current four-point scale. This change will apply to all class work, homework, projects, quizzes, and tests.

  • KMS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams compete in Wasilla

    What a great season for the KMS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams! On Wednesday, September 20th, they competed in the Wasilla Cross Country Borough Invitational where all athletes set personal records and the girls placed 3rd overall.
