Military Families
Peterson Elementary School is proud to serve the many military families who work and live in our community. We are committed to providing support, resources, and enriching programs to enhance their educational experience and support the unique need of our military families.
Peterson Elementary is a designated Purple Star School, which services United States Coast Guard and Navy families whose students make up 80 percent of the student population. The Purple Star Award is for military-friendly schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. The Purple Star Advisory Board, formed by the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development, determines a school’s eligibility every three years.
