Letter from the Superintendent March 18, 2020

March 18, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope that this letter finds you and your family healthy and happy. It is my intent to maintain communication as often as necessary to provide you with the most up-to-date information available.  We do not have all of the answers, but we will continue to do the best we can to support your child’s education.

During the extended Spring Break, principals and teachers will be working closely with families to develop plans to deliver distance education programming for every child in the district. Distance education programming is a partnership between parents and schools that support continued education of your child(ren) as we navigate this required closure. While the Governor has ordered our schools to remain closed until March 30, I believe it is in everyone’s best interest to plan for the future to the best of our ability. KIBSD is working to develop a plan for in-home/distance delivery of school through the end of this school year.

We understand that many things could add pressure to an already tense situation. It is important to think about how we can best work together to support your child’s (children’s) learning.

Teachers will be contacting parents and caregivers next week to discuss learning and/or programming opportunities and needs unique to your child. This information will be used to develop an education plan for your child (children). If your household has internet connection issues, or is not connected to the internet, please give this information to your child’s (children’s) teacher. GCI has generously offered to provide internet services during this time.

KIBSD is committed to our partnership with families. We are hoping to remain connected to you and your children during this difficult time. Above all else, it is our hope that we can be a support for your family and we understand that everyone’s situation and needs are unique. As always, families are our most critical partner. We can only do this together and it is because of this partnership that I know we can achieve amazing things for kids.

KIBSD hopes that in light of this difficult situation, your spirits remain high and you keep your mind and body active and healthy.

Sincerely,

Larry LeDoux, Superintendent
