Qualifying for state competition is grueling and competitive. Qualifiers must place in the top three within their school by progressing through preliminary rounds through finals at two different tournaments. Tournaments are normally two days long, with between 100-150 students participating from around the state.

The entire ShakesBear team has qualified for state in group and individual events.

State competition will take place Feb. 22-25 at East HS in Anchorage. The Kodiak ShakesBears are proud to send their team to represent Kodiak High School: Bradly Cobban (team captain, Reader’s Theatre), Maryssa Abston (Dramatic, Duet, Reader’s Theatre), Acacia Birbilas (Solo, Duet, Reader’s Theatre), Felix Lewis (Humorous, Duet, Reader’s Theatre), Audrey Lonheim (Reader’s Theatre), Derek Rocheleau (Dramatic, Reader’s Theatre), Krista Simpler (Reader’s Theatre), and Ella Spence (Duet, Reader’s Theatre).
