Frog Dissection at Kodiak High School

Have you ever wondered what the inside of a frog looks like? Well, Ms. Allen’s Biology students got a first-hand look this week during an exercise on dissection. Students were paired up in groups and given a large frog. During the dissection, they identified the lungs, liver, gall bladder, heart, and other organs. Several students discovered that their frogs were pregnant and learned that their eggs will go wherever there is room in the body cavity. Ms. Allen explained that this was a fun way for students to examine the body of a frog and ask questions. Every student was engaged in cutting, pulling, and asking questions about the frog’s insides.
