Final SAT of the School Year March 9: The registration deadline for the March 9 SAT is February 8, 2019. If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, please see Ms. Riedel or Mr. Fox to discuss receiving a fee waiver.


AP Exam Payment: The deadline for submitting payment to take an AP exam is Friday, March 8th. Each AP Exam costs $94. Please see Ms. Wagner in the counseling office with any questions or concerns.


Seniors - Scholarships Money: Remember to check out the school website for all scholarships and opportunities. Many local scholarships are available and a few are due soon!


Air Force Recruiter at KHS 2/11: A recruiter from the United States Air Force will be here on Monday, February 11th at lunch in the counseling office. Students interested in careers in the military are encouraged to stop by to ask questions.


Travel Club: There will be a short Travel Club meeting on Friday, February 8 in Mrs. Stewart’s room during lunch.


Spring ASVAB April 3rd: The Spring ASVAB test will be offered Wednesday, April 3rd at 8:30 am. The ASVAB a test used for military entrance. It is also a test that gives insight into student career areas. Sign up in the counseling office for this free test.


Travel Club Fundraiser: The next Travel Club pizzeria date is Friday, February 15! If you want a freshly baked pizza, place your orders this week (Thursday and Friday) online at or scan the QR code on the flyers posted around the school. Pizzas are $20 each, and you pay when you pick up your pizza on the 15th. See Mrs. Jackson or Mrs. Stewart if you have any questions.


Prom: Prom is scheduled for Saturday, April 20th from 7:30 - 11:00 PM at the Afognak Building.


Student Store: Rose petal bath bombs and soap will be available in the student store and smoothie bar this Friday, just in time for Valentines Day.


Re-Enrollment 2019/2020: Enrollment for the 2019-2020 school year is now open. Parents can go to to register.


Girls Soccer Fundraiser Dinner: The Girls Soccer team is selling tickets to their annual fundraiser dinner. On the menu for this year are three traditional carne asada tacos, chips and salsa, and flan, a cream caramel dessert custard. Tickets are $15, see any girls soccer player for a ticket! This fundraiser dinner is on Feb. 23, from 4-7.

Singing Valentines: Kodiak High School Choir is selling Singing Valentines at the cascading stairs during lunch today. Buy one for your honey boo or your best friend - you decide! For $5 you can choose one of 25 songs. The song list is posted around school and also available at the sales table. Your singing valentines will be delivered Wednesday, Feb 13th. See a choir student for more information.


Girls Soccer: Meeting Friday during lunch. If you are playing you must attend. Bring ticket money.


FEMA Camp: Students who will be entering grades 8-12 in the fall of 2019 are invited to participate in FEMA’s Youth Preparedness Camp in Stanwood, Washington this August. During the 6-day, 5-night camp, students will learn to “safely assist in the immediate aftermath of a disaster when a professional response may be delayed or limited.” They will also have an opportunity to develop a project to use their newly-learned skills to help their communities when they get back home. Up to forty students from Region X states—Alaska, Washington, Idaho, and Oregon – will be chosen to participate. FEMA will pay for all travel, lodging, and food and will arrange students’ travel. Contact your counselor or KIBSD Federal Programs staff for more information.


Homework Club: Students, do you need a quiet space to study? Do you need extra support for any of your classes? Homework Club offers a daily time to study in the library after school Monday-Thursday 3:30-4:30 and Fridays 2:30-3:30.
