ASVAB: Wednesday, November 13th The first ASVAB test of the year will be given to interested juniors and seniors on Wednesday, November 13th at 8:30am. The ASVAB test is used for military service entrance. The test also provides information on various career areas. Students considering military service after high school are encouraged to take this test. Sign up in the KHS counseling office.


Seniors Serving Seniors: November 22nd The annual Seniors Serving Seniors event is going to be Friday, November 22nd. Volunteers from the Class of 2020 will be serving lunch at the Kodiak Seniors Center, and also donating over 40 pumpkin pies. If you would like to donate homemade or store bought pumpkin pies for the event or to volunteer to serve lunch that day, please stop by the counseling office to sign up. Pies should be delivered to the Counseling office on November 21st-22nd and should be in a disposable container.

SAT Registration: The registration deadline for the December 7th SAT is November 8, 2019. Please see Ms. Riedel or Mr. Fox if you qualify for a fee waiver.

ACT Registration: The deadline to register for the December 14 ACT is November 15. Please see Mr. Fox or Ms. Riedel if you qualify for a fee waiver.

Kodiak Scholarship Fair: Friday, November 8th, 6pm. The annual Kodiak Scholarship Fair is THIS FRIDAY at Kodiak College from 6-7:30pm. Representatives from local scholarship organizations, University of Alaska Anchorage, Southeast and Fairbanks will be in attendance. The event is open to the public. Current high school juniors and seniors are strongly encouraged to attend.

College Reps Here this Week: Tara Knight, admissions rep for the University of Alaska Fairbanks will be in town this week and at KHS on Thursday, November 7th. Also, UAA Kodiak College Reps will be present at KHS on Friday in the Kodiak College outreach office by the counseling area. Students may see reps this week to ask questions about college admissions, and to get application fee waivers to the University of Alaska Schools.

Military Recruiter Visits to KHS: The United States Air Force recruiter will be here on Tuesday, November 12th and Wednesday, November 13th. A recruiter from the Alaska Army National Guard will be here on Wednesday, November 13th. Recruiters will have informational tables set up in the counseling area. Students who are interested in careers in the military are encouraged to stop by with questions.

Travel Club: Travel Club meeting in Mrs. Jackson’s room on Friday at lunch.

Egg Rolls Fundraiser: What would a holiday be without egg rolls? Partner’s Club is rocking and rolling, lumpia that is. Orders are due to Ms. Davis or Ms. Marjorie by Nov. 15th. Pick up frozen egg rolls will be Monday, Nov. 25th from 3:30-4:00. The price is $15 a doz. Order forms can be picked up in the office, at Thread Bear or with Ms. Davis in room B131.

AP Exams: Today is the FINAL day to pay and sign up for your AP exams. If you do not pay today, an AP exam cannot be ordered for you. Please see Ms. Wagner with questions or concerns.

Snack Bar: Are you tired of American food at lunch? Want something new and fresh? KHS Partner’s Club will be selling Spam Musubi and fresh Veggie cups at the snack bar in the athletic hallway, at lunch, Thurs Nov 14th and Friday, Nov 15th. We will have the same menu available Thursday the 21st and Friday the 22nd as well. As always, limited quantities are available.

MORP: Attention KHS!! MORP is coming soon!! What is MORP?? It is the backwards PROM! So, instead of formal dress, it is casual, and typically it is the ladies doing the asking the gentlemen to the dance. This year we will be holding a Black Light Party. You’ll want to wear white and neon colors! There is a song request sheet in the main office. Let us know what jams you want the DJ to spin.
