Ouzinkie School Closure Announcement

Dear Parents and Families,

With the identification of a positive Covid-19 case in the community of Ouzinkie, KIBSD and the ASB have decided to transition to remote learning at Ouzinkie School beginning on Monday, November 16, 2020.

Students and staff will engage in remote learning from November 16 through November 24. On November 25, 2020, the students’ Thanksgiving Break will begin. On November 29th, The ASB, teachers, and I will meet to review the situation in Ouzinkie and determine if students will return to in person school or continue with remote learning.

Tomorrow, Mr. Sheehan and the staff at Ouzinkie School will work to get the students’ devices, school work, and supplies delivered to the students. This will include a daily schedule for elementary students to follow. I will work with Mr. Gray to determine the secondary schedule for this week as he completes his isolation after returning from Anchorage last week.

We know this is a challenging time for our communities and our hearts go out to those who are ill. We will remain in contact with you to update the status of the school(s). Please check our school district webpage for updated information

We will contact you as soon as we have concluded our follow-up meeting on November 29, 2020. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out by phone or by email:
