  • Press Release for Positive COVID-19 Case and Case Count Correction 7-31-20

    We have been notified by the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) that there has been an additional positive test result for COVID-19 in the Kodiak Island Borough. This is a non-resident, travel related case from the seafood industry. We were also notified that one of the four cases reported earlier today was determined to be an individual who had previously tested positive and is now determined to be recovered and no longer contagious. This case has been removed from the case totals. This brings the total case count in the Kodiak area to 25, with nine of those cases being classified as active.

    We have received information from the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services that there have been four more positive test results for COVID-19 in the Kodiak Island Borough. These four cases are all travel related nonresidents from the seafood industry and are currently isolated. The addition of these four cases brings the case count to 25 for Kodiak Island; nine of those cases are classified as active.

  • New Revised Calendar for 2020-2021 School Year

    The new calendar is a result of KIBSD Smart Start Taskforce recommendations. At their recommendation KIBSD is requested to delay the start of school for students in grades 1-12 to September 8, 2020 and Kindergarten students to September 14, 2020.
