    It might feel a little weird doing your classwork from home without your teacher, but I encourage you to keep working hard and to do the best you can. This is a great time to read some new books or learn some new games! If you have questions or really want to talk to your teacher, please ask your parents to call them for you. Your teachers are thinking about you and would love to hear how you are doing.

    To prevent the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), the State of Alaska is issuing its eighth health mandate based on the authority under the Public Health Disaster Emergency Declaration signed by Governor Mike Dunleavy on March 11, 2020.

  • Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization COVID-19 Update No. 2

    Kodiak, Alaska – As of March 20, 2020, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kodiak. The Emergency Services Council declared a public health disaster emergency on Tuesday, March 18, 2020. Effective Wednesday, March 19, 2020, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been activated to implement precautions for the possible spread of the coronavirus in our community, and to request resources to support the community’s needs.

    Through a joint effort of the medical community of Kodiak, a tent has been set up in the East Elementary parking lot for the purpose of drive-thru COVID-19 testing. KIBSD would like to reassure its families that this test site is a community resource and is not associated with the school or the district.

  • City of Kodiak News Release No. 5

    As of March 16, 2020, as of today, there are no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 in Kodiak. Because there is yet no vaccine or medication for this virus, personal hygiene and social distancing are the only measures that can protect our community. If you are sick first call Public Health at 211 or Providence Nurse Hotline at (907) 212-6183 and follow instructions.

  • Closure of School District Community Use Facilities

    Out of an abundance of caution, and in an effort to maximize the health and safety of students, staff, and the community of Kodiak, all Kodiak Island Borough School District community use facilities will be closed to the public effective Sunday, March 15th, 2020, until further notice. This closure includes the community pool, all KIBSD school and gym facilities, and the Auditorium.

  • Free Grab & Go Breakfast and Lunch Meals

    During Spring Break, March 16-20th, the Kodiak Island Borough School District will offer free Grab & Go Breakfast and Lunch each day for children ages 1-18. The breakfast and lunch grab and go will be available for pick up (by student or parents) at the Kodiak High School Main Entrance from 9:00am - 1:00pm.
