I believe that education is a calling, not a career. The majority of my childhood memories were of riding my horses and ‘playing’ school. My twenty-two years as an educator encompasses a variety of school and classroom settings. From a one-room schoolhouse where I lived in a small teacherage and taught 6 students who rode their horses to school, to a poverty-stricken border town community in which gang violence was a daily occurrence. I’ve taught every grade level K – 6, was an Instructional Coach for four years, and am currently starting my second year as an administrator. Though the settings and job descriptions changed throughout the years, the one thing that has remained consistent is my passion for teaching and connecting with students. It is my belief that all students can achieve their dreams, it is my job as an educator to give them the tools to dream big, believe in themselves, take risks, and foster a love of learning.

North Star Elementary is full of adults that are passionate about providing a positive, safe, engaging learning experience for all our students. I am truly honored to continue to be a part of the North Star learning community.
