Munartet Partner Roles

  • Planning Partners/ Partnership Team

The Partnership Team is the Kodiak Island Borough School District, Alutiiq Museum, Kodiak
Arts Council and Kodiak College. The organizations and staff work to fulfill grant requirements
and meet project goals, with technical support and leadership from the Alaska State Council on
    the Arts.

    Pre-Service Cohort Members

Selected by the Kodiak College and the Kodiak Island Borough School District, the pre-service
cohort includes individuals currently enrolled in teaching programs through University of Alaska
Anchorage, paraprofessionals currently under contract at KIBSD, and high school students
enrolled in a cadet teaching program. Members should have a strong desire to teach in and
through the arts and culture in Kodiak.

    Cohort Members

Selected by the Kodiak Island Borough School District, cohort members include new to service
teachers currently in their first five years of the profession. Members should have a strong desire
to teach in and through the arts and culture in Kodiak.

    Teaching Artists

Selected by the Kodiak Arts Council, teaching artists are established local artists with a strong
background in education, specifically through KIBSD/KAC teaching artist training, Sum’ Arts
program leadership, and/or Artist in Residency programs in Kodiak classrooms. They will serve
as artistic coaches to cohort members, helping to bring more confidence and competence to arts
    integrated teaching.

knowledge and practice of Alutiiq culture. They will serve as artistic and cultural mentors to
cohort members, helping to bring more confidence and competence to arts and culture integrated
    teaching.

    Elders

teachers with a strong background in the arts and creative approaches to general education. They
serve as mentors to all cohort members.

Elders, all key players to help cohort members become more confident and competent in
teaching in and through the arts and culture in Kodiak.
