The celebration of Filipino American History Month commemorates the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States on October 18, 1587, when the first “Luzones Indios” set foot in Morro Bay, California. In 1992, the Filipino American National Historical Society introduced Filipino American History Month, and in 2009 the U.S. Congress officially recognized October as Filipino American History Month in the U.S. Please join us in celebrating the histories, cultures, and historic contributions made by our Filipino community members.
