Dear KIBSD Families,
As you might be aware, we are faced with a staffing shortage that is impacting districts across Alaska. Currently we have several openings, but none that impact us successfully opening the school year. We have diligently worked to fill all our vacancies with highly-qualified staff and are thankful for the many retired teachers that are starting the school year with us as long-term subs.
One critical area that is impacting the district is the shortage of bus drivers. Unfortunately, we have been unable to find enough drivers to fill all our routes and out of necessity, have had to combine and consolidate bus routes today which means that the bus routes that were published in the newspaper and our website may no longer be correct. We have republished our new routes on our webpage at https://www.kibsd.org/bus-transportation/
We want to thank Mr. Gerald Clark at First Student Transportation for his and his staff’s work over the past few days re-working our routes to ensure that we are able to accommodate our students’ transportation needs. We value the collaborative relationship we have with First Student Transportation.

Como sabrá, nos enfrentamos a una escasez de empleados que está afectando a los distritos de Alaska.
