April 8, 2022
Dear KIBSD Families and Staff:
KIBSD would like to update families and staff that effective Monday, April 11, 2022, visitors are welcome to enter district facilities with optional masking. Masking will continue to be recommended but not mandatory for visitors after they check in with the front office staff to review symptoms and household exposure. As before, some classrooms or schools may be required to mask, for a period of time, based on level of contagion.
In addition to the change in masking requirements, KIBSD will no longer be contact tracing for in-school or community exposure. The responsibility will fall to the individual and/or family to contact persons who they would consider a close contact. KIBSD nurses and staff will continue to provide testing and recommendations but parents will not receive notification phone calls of school exposure. In the elementary setting, parents may receive a general email or Seesaw message if there was a positive identified in the classroom.
Please see the attached documents for further guidance:
- KIBSD Close Contact Exposure in Household – the district’s protocols for in-house exposure
- School Protocols for Symptoms – outlines when, and what kind of test is needed
- KIBSD Masking Requirements – outlines when masking is required
- COVID Testing Options – information on testing options. Note Federal funding change*
The information in these flyers replaces previously released protocols.
To ensure that our schools remain open, the most critical mitigation measure will be the effort to keep our schools symptom-free. We will need all families, students, and staff to monitor closely for signs and symptoms of illness, and to stay home if they are sick. Together, we can work to keep KIBSD healthy and focused on learning.
