KIBSD is introducing new COVID-19 related protocols for students.
This change is based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has been reviewed by the Alaska Department of Public Health, and has the full support of our local Medical Advisory Committee.
These new protocols are approved for individuals determined to be a close contact of a positive case, and outline our test to stay options, and updated isolation information for individuals who test positive for COVID-19. These protocols require a five-day isolation period after a positive test, with the individual able to return to school on day six if symptoms have improved and they are fever free.
Please review the following attachments thoroughly, and contact your school nurse with any questions:
- Close Contact Exposure to COVID-19 – quarantine options for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals
- KIBSD Test to Stay Protocol – the process for utilizing the test to stay program for students who are identified as a close contact from school or an isolated exposure
- KIBSD COVID-19 Screening & Protocols –home screening that should take place on a daily basis before entering a KIBSD facility
- Return to School Options – options for returning to school if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or receive a positive test result
Please take careful note about quarantine requirements for any student close contact exposure within the same household.
If you have been notified of your child’s close contact status, or have received a positive test result, please contact your school nurse. Students who have tested positive must confirm their return to school date with their nurse before returning to the building.
Please continue to monitor yourself and your loved ones for symptoms, and stay home if you feel ill. Thank you for your continued support.
