Over the past week, KIBSD Administration has been notified that two individuals at North Star Elementary, one individual at Kodiak Middle School and one individual at Kodiak High School have tested positive for COVID-19. As per district procedures, all students or staff who have been in close contact with a positive case will be notified of their options, as outlined in the KIBSD Close Contact Exposure to COVID-19 protocols released on November 16, 2021.
KIBSD is continuing to work together to maintain the health and safety of our students and staff. In accordance with our district COVID response plan, we are currently employing the following steps:
- These cases have been identified while the individuals were not in the building during their contagious period, and do not require additional sanitization of the schools.
We continue to encourage all parents to take their student’s temperature and monitor them closely for any sign of potential illness.
Students and staff should remain at home if they have any symptoms of COVID-19 including: fever (defined as temperature over 100.4°F), new or persistent cough, new trouble breathing or shortness of breath, chills, night sweats, sore throat, body aches, muscle aches, joint pain, headache, loss of taste or smell, runny nose, congestion, fatigue, confusion, and/or stomach issues (diarrhea, vomiting).
