Nov 23, 2021

November 23, 2021

Over the past three days, KIBSD Administration has been notified that one individual at North Star Elementary and one individual at Kodiak High School have tested positive for COVID-19. As per district procedures, all students or staff who have been in close contact with a positive case will be notified of their options, as outlined in the KIBSD Close Contact Exposure to COVID-19 protocols released on November 16, 2021.

KIBSD is continuing to work together to maintain the health and safety of our students and staff. In accordance with our district COVID response plan, we are currently employing the following steps:

  • All students and staff who are considered a close contact have been notified by the school district.
  • All affected schools have gone through deep cleaning and will reopen to in-person learning on Monday, November 29, 2021 after the Thanksgiving break.

We continue to encourage all parents to take their student’s temperature and monitor them closely for any sign of potential illness.

Students and staff should remain at home if they have any symptoms of COVID-19 including: fever (defined as temperature over 100.4°F), new or persistent cough, new trouble breathing or shortness of breath, chills, night sweats, sore throat, body aches, muscle aches, joint pain, headache, loss of taste or smell, runny nose, congestion, fatigue, confusion, and/or stomach issues (diarrhea, vomiting).
