KIBSD Administration has been notified that three individuals at Kodiak High School, three individuals at East Elementary, two individuals at Main Elementary, and five individuals at North Star Elementary have tested positive for COVID-19. As per district procedures, all students or staff who have been in close contact with a positive case will be notified of their quarantine options, as outlined in the KIBSD COVID-19 District Protocols released on August 3, 2021.
KIBSD is continuing to work together to maintain the health and safety of our students and staff. In accordance with our district COVID response plan, we are currently employing the following steps:
- All students and staff who are considered a close contact will be notified by the school district.
- Kodiak High School, East Elementary, and Main Elementary will undergo deep cleaning and reopen to in-person learning, to all but the impacted individuals, on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
- North Star Elementary will transition to remote learning for the remainder of the week to allow time for extensive contact tracing and deep-cleaning. North Star will reopen to in-person learning, to all but the impacted individuals, on Monday, September 27, 2021.
We continue to encourage all parents to take their student’s temperature and monitor them closely for any sign of potential illness.
Students and staff should remain at home if they have any symptoms of COVID-19 including: fever (defined as temperature over 100.4°F), new or persistent cough, new trouble breathing or shortness of breath, chills, night sweats, sore throat, body aches, muscle aches, joint pain, headache, loss of taste or smell, runny nose, congestion, fatigue, confusion, and/or stomach issues (diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain).
