KODIAK, ALASKA, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 17, 2021
The Kodiak Emergency Operations Center has received new COVID-19 case information for the Kodiak Island Borough.
Kodiak is experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19
Twenty-nine (29) new cases have been reported for the Kodiak Island Borough.
- Two (2) cases were tested on 8/13/21
- One (1) case is a close contact of a previously reported case
- One (1) case is classified as community spread
- Two (2) cases were tested on 8/14/21
- One (1) case is a close contact of a previously reported case
- One (1) case is classified as community spread
- Twenty-five (25) cases were tested on 8/16/21
- Eighteen (18) cases are close contacts of previously reported cases
- Seven (7) cases are classified as community spread
One hundred and twenty-four (124) cases are currently classified as active locally; the total case count associated with the Kodiak Island Borough is now one thousand, four hundred and fifty- three (1453). There are have been sixty-one (61) local hospitalizations associated with COVID- 19 to date; there are three (3) active case currently hospitalized in Kodiak. There have been five deaths associated with COVID-19 for the Kodiak Island Borough.
