KODIAK, ALASKA, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 12, 2021
The Kodiak Emergency Operations Center has received new COVID-19 case information for the Kodiak Island Borough.
Kodiak is experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19
Fourteen (14) new cases have been reported for the Kodiak Island Borough.
- Five (5) cases were tested on 8/9/21
- All five (5) cases are close contacts of previously reported cases
- Nine (9) cases were tested on 8/11/21
- Five (5) cases are close contacts of previously reported cases
- Four (4) cases have unknown transmission pending contact tracing
One hundred and forty-two (142) cases are currently classified as active locally; the total case count associated with the Kodiak Island Borough is now one thousand, three hundred and eighty-seven (1387). There are have been fifty-eight (58) local hospitalizations associated with COVID-19 to date; there are no active cases currently hospitalized in Kodiak, however the emergency room remains busy with patients seeking COVID-19 related care. There have been five deaths associated with COVID-19 for the Kodiak Island Borough.

Keep your distance from others and wear a mask if you believe you may have been in contact with someone who has tested positive with COVID-19.
Contact your health care provider or pharmacist if you wish to be vaccinated.
Consider social distancing, outdoor activities and the number of people when planning on attending or hosting social gatherings.
