KODIAK, ALASKA, FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 10, 2021
The Kodiak Emergency Operations Center has received new COVID-19 case information for the Kodiak Island Borough.
Kodiak is experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19
Sixteen (16) new cases have been reported for the Kodiak Island Borough.
- One (1) case was tested on 8/4/21
- This case is classified as community spread
- Six (6) cases were tested on 8/7/21
- Four (4) cases are close contacts of previously reported cases
- Two (2) cases are classified as community spread
- One (1) case was tested on 8/8/21
- This case is classified as community spread
- Eight (8) cases were tested on 8/9/21
- Six (6) cases are close contacts of previously reported cases
- One (1) case is travel related
- One (1) case is classified as community spread
One hundred and twelve (112) cases are currently classified as active locally; the total case count associated with the Kodiak Island Borough is now one thousand, three hundred and forty- six (1346). There are have been fifty-eight (58) local hospitalizations associated with COVID-19 to date; three active cases are currently hospitalized in Kodiak. There have been five deaths associated with COVID-19 for the Kodiak Island Borough.

Keep your distance from others and wear a mask if you believe you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive with COVID-19.
Contact your health care provider or pharmacist if you wish to be vaccinated.
Consider social distancing, outdoor activities and the number of people when planning on attending or hosting social gatherings.
