The Kodiak Emergency Operations Center has received new COVID-19 case information for the Kodiak Island Borough.
The COVID-19 virus is highly contagious, and we are experiencing an outbreak of the virus in our community. Please take appropriate precautions to keep yourself and our community healthy!
Fifteen (15 ) new cases have been reported for the Kodiak Island Borough.
- Three (3) cases were tested on 7/21/21
- All three cases are close contacts of another known case
- Two (2) cases were tested on 7/24/21
- One case is a close contact of another known case
- One case is considered community transmission
- Three (3) cases were tested on 7/28/21
- All three cases are close contacts of another known case
- Seven (7) cases were tested on 7/29/21
- All seven cases have unknown transmission until contract tracing is complete
This brings the current case count associated with the Kodiak Island Borough to one thousand, two hundred and twenty (1220); fifty-seven (57) cases are classified as active locally.
To date, there have been a total of fifty-one (51) local hospitalizations and five (5) deaths associated with COVID-19. There is one active case currently hospitalized in Kodiak.
If you are sick or believe you have may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus, stay home and away from others.
Contact your health care provider or local pharmacy if you wish to be vaccinated. Wearing a mask in public is known to prevent spread of the virus.
