Flyer Distribution Guidelines and Procedures

  • Flyers publicizing community events may be posted online and distributed to students, subject to the conditions listed below, at no cost to the district.

    Organizations have the option to distribute flyers through one of two methods: Electronic community bulletin board OR hardcopy distribution. 

    ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION - DISTRICT BULLETIN BOARD
    The following guidelines and criteria must be met in order to distribute flyers via community bulletin board:

    • Organizations must be a non-profit, community-based organization, offering educational, cultural, or athletic programs relevant to KIBSD students and their families.
    • Organizations must submit a copy of their flyer electronically to, Destiny Fitzgerald at dfitzgerald01@kibsd.org and allow a minimum of two school days for approval/denial to be received.
    • The text of the flyer must include a phone number, email address, or web address where inquiries may be directed should parents or students have questions.
    • Advertising, with the exception of event sponsors, may not appear on the flyer.
    • Flyers may not include any verbiage regarding alcohol, tobacco, drugs, violence or similar material.

    HARDCOPY DISTRIBUTION:
    The following guidelines and criteria must be met in order to distribute flyers via hardcopy:

    • Organizations must be a non-profit, community-based organization, offering educational, cultural, or athletic programs relevant to KIBSD students and their families.
    • Organizations must submit a copy of their flyer electronically to, Destiny Fitzgerald at dfitzgerald01@kibsd.org and allow a minimum of two school days for approval/denial to be received.
    • The text of the flyer must include a phone number, email address, or web address where inquiries may be directed should parents or students have questions.
    • Advertising, with the exception of event sponsors, may not appear on the flyer.
    • Flyers may not include any verbiage regarding alcohol, tobacco, drugs, violence or similar material.
    • Once approved, it is the responsibility of the organization to provide hard copies of the flyer to each school. Flyers need to be bundled in groups of 25 for classroom distribution, or one large bundle for student office pick-up.
    • Special instructions for distribution (e.g., "For first-grade only") must be clearly marked for office staff.
    • Organizations must allow at least five days for distribution to students.

    Kodiak Island Borough School District reserves the right to refuse the distribution or posting of any information which is inappropriate for distribution to school-aged children.
