It is summertime in the Kodiak Island Borough School District, and while the students are enjoying and exploring the beauty of their island home, the district’s faculty, staff and paraprofessionals already are hard at work preparing for the next school year at the Summer Institute.
How do Kodiak Island Borough School District faculty, staff and students view their school climate? How connected do these students feel to adults and peers in their school community? These are the questions that the Association of Alaska School Boards’ School Climate and Connectedness Survey (SCCS) seeks to answer each year.
High school graduations provide an opportunity for reflection, celebration and optimism about the future, and from Kodiak High School to its eight rural schools, Kodiak Island Borough School District has been a source of all of these for the month of May.
Earlier this month, 16 students from the Kodiak High School Music Department competed in the ASAA/First National Bank Alaska 2017 State Solo and Ensemble Music Festival at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
