Digital Lessons for Digital Learners Grand Prize Winner

AASB Consortium for Digital Learning(CDL), GCI and Alaska Communications sponsored the contest that turns Lesson Plans into Digital Books. East Elementary teacher John Malloy's entry of "Salmon Pacific Species Student and Teacher Guides" won Grand Prize of 10 iPad 2's and a Bretford syncing tray for his classroom.  His unit will be posted as a course on our AASB CDL iTunes U site in the near future.

Special Work Session

Board members are urging parents and community members to attend and participate in a special work session on Monday, February 20, at 5 pm in the Borough Assembly Chambers.  The one main item on the agenda is this coming school year's budget.  KIBSD is faced with having to reduce the budget by $3.5 million. This is equivalent to 36 positions.
