2013 Brian Young Invitational - Kodiak, “Track Town” Alaska
The Brian Young Invitational is a Post Season All Star Tri-Meet All-Star teams from three different regions of Alaska will come together the week after the ASAA State Championship small school and big school meets to all compete in one top quality, finals only, grand finale with all the best together.
The Anchorage School District AKA Region IV will make up the first of the three all-star team, Like each team, their coaches (Kathleen Navarre of Dimond and Doug Herron of Bartlett) will select their most competitive team picking two individuals and one relay for each event. They will choose any athletes they want from the 8 large schools in the ASD. Athletes in that region, or any region, not selected to represent their all-star team may compete as non-score independent entrants provided they have meet the meet standards for those events.
The second all star team will come out of the entire south central Alaska except for the 8 ASD schools. This is all region III and Region II schools both large and small schools. Coaches selecting this team are Jason Hofacker of ACS and Rob Stauffer of Kodiak.
The third all star team will represent both; Region VI, Fairbanks and all schools to the north, and Region V, Juneau and all south east schools. Selecting coaches for this team are, Dan Callahan of West Valley and Scott May of Thunder Mountain.
The meet will be held on Kodiak’s brand new polyurethane rubber track and field facility. It will be held during Kodiak’s annual crab festival celebration, May 23-27.
