Kodiak High School

The English Language Acquisition Program at Kodiak High School supports students whose dominant language is not English and whose academic achievement is impaired due to his or her inability to comprehend and/ or speak English adequately. The ELAP teachers assist English language learners linguistically, socially and academically. Working collaboratively with teachers, parents and administration, the ELAP:

• creates a supportive learning environment;
• values and builds upon students' academic, linguistic, and cultural background;
• assists students in reaching their full academic potential;
• encourages participation of students and their families within the school community; and
  
• fosters understanding and appreciation of diverse populations within the school community
