Battle of the Books is an Alaskan reading motivational and comprehension program sponsored by the Alaska Association of School Librarians. The goals of the program are to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, to broaden reading interests, increase reading comprehension and promote academic excellence.-AkASL

Battle of the Books at KHS

• Meets weekly from late-September to mid-February.
• Students discuss/ review books and quiz each other on book content.
• Option to receive 0.5 English credits by completing specific requirements.
• 3-4 students will compete on the KHS "battle team" against teams from other schools in a game show format competition via videoconferencing.
