Business Department
Overview
The Business Department is responsible for all functions of the District's financial operations. There are nine (9) full-time employees currently staffed within this unit.
Business Department employees are responsible for accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, risk management, employee benefits, fiscal audits, financial reporting, budgeting, enrollment reporting, and cash management. Additionally, the Department is responsible for educating and advising stakeholders on legislation affecting school funding.
The Kodiak Island Borough School District adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and the State of Alaska Department of Education and Early Development's Uniform Chart of Accounts.
There are two primary documents published through the Business Department: audited financial statements and the operating budget. Any questions or requests for information can be routed through the Business Department's main line by calling 481-6100 Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
