KIBSD welcomes interested persons to participate in a plan of service review meeting on how we will be delivering KELP services for the 2013-2014 school year. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 6:00 pm in the East Elementary cafeteria. If you have questions please contact the Special Services department at 481-6221.
Early release time for last day of school
The release time for the last day of school, Friday May 24th, for each town elementary school will follow the early release day schedule that typically runs on Wednesday. This will be in addition to the early release on Wednesday, May 22, that week.

North Star, early release 2:40 PM
East, early release 2:30 PM
Main, early release, 2:40 PM

The Kodiak High School Construction Academy and Skills USA programs are auctioning off 2 greenhouses. Tickets can be purchased for $40 each and the drawing will be held on May 4th. Parent & Teacher Conferences
Conferences for Kodiak High School and Kodiak Middle School will take place tonight, Feb 6th and tomorrow night, Feb 7th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. This is the perfect opportunity to sit down and speak with all of your student's teachers.
Girls Basketball Home Games This Weekend
Catch all the action this Friday and Saturday as the Kodiak Bears take on the Kenai Kardinals right here at home. Friday game times are: C Team 4:30, JV 6:00, Varsity 7:30. Saturday game times are: C Team 3:00, JV 4:30, Varsity 6:00.
The boy's team has traveled to Kenai this weekend for the Northern Lights Conference games. GOOD LUCK BOYS!

Healthy Futures Challenge!
For the first time ever, the Kodiak Island Borough School District is participating in the Healthy Futures Challenge. Congratulations to Main, East, North Star and Old Harbor who have taken on the challenge to "Play Every Day!". Students who are physically active for at least 30 minutes 3 times a week will receive individual incentives. The program goes on until April with three different chances to win.

Spirit of KIBSD 2013
The Board of Education is once again announcing the Spirit of KIBSD Employee Recognition Program. This program promotes a greater appreciation of the District's employees and publicly honors specific employees for outstanding teaching or service that directly or indirectly contributes to the students of Kodiak Island.
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, which is observed annually on December 7, is to remember and honor all those who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. On August 23, 1994, Congress designated December 7 of each year as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Take a moment and remember those service men and women who lost their lives or were injured on December 7, 1941.
