There have been several bear sightings in town near the areas of Hillside Drive and Selief Drive. KIBSD is working with Fish and Game to monitor student safety. Students who walk to school, or wait at bus stops, are encouraged to use caution and to be bear aware. All residents are asked to manage garbage and other items that may attract the bear.
If you spot a bear please call Fish and Game, the State Troopers, or the Kodiak Police Department.
There will be NO SCHOOL Wednesday, November 27th through Friday, November 29th.
The Association of Alaska School Boards recognizes KIBSD as the Outstanding School Board of the Year! Congratulations to our board members for their hard work and dedication. The Kodiak High School Construction Academy and Skills USA programs are auctioning off 2 greenhouses. Tickets can be purchased for $40 each and the drawing will be held on May 4th. Conferences for Kodiak High School and Kodiak Middle School will take place tonight, Feb 6th and tomorrow night, Feb 7th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. This is the perfect opportunity to sit down and speak with all of your student's teachers.
Catch all the action this Friday and Saturday as the Kodiak Bears take on the Kenai Kardinals right here at home. Friday game times are: C Team 4:30, JV 6:00, Varsity 7:30. Saturday game times are: C Team 3:00, JV 4:30, Varsity 6:00.

The Board of Education is once again announcing the Spirit of KIBSD Employee Recognition Program. This program promotes a greater appreciation of the District's employees and publicly honors specific employees for outstanding teaching or service that directly or indirectly contributes to the students of Kodiak Island.
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, which is observed annually on December 7, is to remember and honor all those who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. On August 23, 1994, Congress designated December 7 of each year as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Take a moment and remember those service men and women who lost their lives or were injured on December 7, 1941.
